A new court board in Turkey Tuesday turned down another retrial request from the army officers convicted for planning a coup, court officials said. The decision comes after the Istanbul 11th High Criminal Court rejected a retrial appeal on Jan. 24 on grounds that there was no legal reason to retry the army officers. The criminal court then selected a new court board, which again turned down the request on Tuesday, Today's Zaman reported. A total of 365 suspects stood trial, and on Sept. 21, 2012, the court handed down 20-year prison sentences to three retired generals. Two hundred and thirty five other defendants also received prison sentences, while 36 were acquitted.
