Russia has lodged a strong protest to the Turkish Ambassador in Moscow over the Su-24 incident, the Russian Foreign Ministry told TASS on Wednesday.

"We have lodged a strong protest to Turkey’s Ambassador over the incident," the ministry said.

According to a source in the ministry, the possibility of recalling Russia’s ambassador from Ankara is not being considered at the moment.

"At this stage the question of recalling the Russian ambassador from Ankara is not on the agenda," the source said. "We are waiting for explanations from the Turkish side."
