Turkish police arrested Friday 23 supporters of the Peoples' Democratic Party in Diyarbakir, southeastern Turkey.

The riot police were attempting to disperse a protest over the imposed curfew, when they arrested the Kurdish suporters.

The riot police fired water cannon and tear gas bombs at the crowds to break up their gathering.

The protesters used firecrackers and hurled stones and iron balls at the police.

The Kurdistan Workers Party – deemed a terrorist organization by Turkey and the European Union – is the main target of the government backed strikes.
