Turkish security forces on Tuesday confiscated 36.2 kg of heroin in the eastern Agri province on the Turkish-Iranian border and 122.8 kg of hashish in the western province of Izmirthe, semi-official Anatolia news agency reported. The heroin was found hidden in an automobile at the Gurbulak Border Gate in Agri\'s Dogubayazit town with the help of a sniffer dog, the report said, adding the driver of the vehicle and an Iranian national were detained in connection with the illicit drugs. The hashish was found hidden in a private automobile and in a coal mine, and one person has been detained, according to the report. Turkey has long been a key transit point along the drug smuggling route from Asia and Middle East to Europe.
