The United Arab Emirates' Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum issued onSaturday a decree appointing Major General Khamis Matar Al Mazeina as Commander-in-Chief of Dubai Police. The decree took immediate effect, the state news agency (WAM) reported. Maj Gen Al Mazeina was the deputy commander of Dubai Police and Head of the General Directorate for Criminal Investigations at Dubai Police since 2000. Al Mazeina replaces Lieutenant General Dhahi Khalfan Tamim who was appointed by Sheikh Mohammed last month a as Deputy-Chairman of Dubai Police and Head of the Public Security Department. On this occasion, Sheikh Mohammed expressed appreciation for Khalfan whom he considers a model of loyalty, integrity, dedication and patriotism in serving his country and ensuring its optimal safety and security. He praised the major role played by Khalfan in establishing an integrated and effective security system that contributed to achieving the highest levels of societal security and stability and enabled a secure and stable climate which is considered as one of the most essential prerequisites for development
