Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni expressed his country's aspiration to take part in the COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite Summit 2015 to take place in Sharm el Sheikh on June 10.

The summit is important as it will help boost inter-African trade, Museveni said during a meeting with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry Tuesday night.

The Ugandan leader lauded the framework agreement reached between Egypt, Sudan and Ethiopia as regards the Millennium Dam, saying it truly reflects an honest desire to resort to dialogue and not to conflict, said Egyptian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel Aati.

Shoukry handed the Ugandan leader an invitation to attend the tripartite summit, saying Egypt is keen to boost the role of the Egyptian Agency for Partnership with Africa in offering technical assistance to Uganda.

The talks also tackled fighting terrorism in the African continent, developing bilateral cooperation and achieving stability and security in the continent.

The developments in Libya and the efforts of the UN official to reach a political solution and boost legitimate government were also probed.

The two sides also discussed the situation in Yemen and how far it is linked to the security of the Red Sea region and international navigation freedom.
