UK Defense Secretary Michael Fallon arrived here on Thursday to lead his country's delegation to the inauguration ceremony of the New Suez Canal.

The news was carried by CBC Extra private channel.

The inaugural ceremony to start a few hours later will be attended by a large number of Arab, African, Asian and European leaders.

The legendary project was mostly financed by investment certificates sold to Egyptians.
