The government of the United Kingdom announced here on Wednesday its readiness to receive a number of Syrian refugees temporarily, with giving priority to women and victims of torture, besides disabled.The government is working to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people through such decision, UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg said.UK is exerting all possible efforts to positively contribute to resolving the Syrian conflict and the displacement of millions of its nationals, Clegg affirmed He expressed his country's regret for its inability to receive a large number of Syrian refugees, pointing out that the Syrians' residency in UK will be temporary, until reaching a solution to their country's crisis.Britain will continue supporting Geneva II conference negotiations, held between representatives of the Syrian regime and the opposition, he said.Seeking a solution to the country's political conflict is the best way to aid Syrian refugees and alleviate their hardships permanently, he added.London has been working hardly, since outbreak of the conflict three years ago, to help the Syrian people by offering financial aid, valued at GBP 600 million; the second largest donating country after the United States, he said.British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) issued a report indicating that the number of Syrian refugees to be allowed entry into the UK will reach only hundreds, unlike other European countries which decided to receive thousands of them.UK government refused to take part in the United Nations Refugee Agency' program which Germany agreed to implement, giving host to 10,000 Syrian refugees.
