Some Ukrainian army units are surrounded in the flashpoint eastern town of Debaltseve where "fierce fighting" is going on, a military spokesman said late Tuesday.
Anatoliy Stelmakh told AFP that "several units were surrounded" in a rare admission by the Ukrainian government of a battlefield setback. He did not say how many units or soldiers were encircled by pro-Russian rebels who stormed the town.
