The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki -moon urged Germany to make more international commitment during a meeting with German Chancellor Angela Merkel here on Thursday. Germany should show more political leadership as a sound macroeconomic and global economic power, Ban said. He said: "German support is always welcome and will be highly appreciated." Both leaders also discussed such issues as the nuclear negotiations with Iran, the Syria crisis and the conflict in Mali. Merkel spoke mainly of political solutions and said it is not merely about "more or less military involvement." Ban is to attend the Munich Security Conference at the weekend.
