An experts team of the United Nations committee on Libya called for the need to establish a maritime monitoring force to help the government secure territorial waters and prevent the entry and exit of weapons and oil exports by militias via Libya's coast.
The report, which includes the experts' vision on ways to tackle the situation in Libya and restore stability, stressed the need to enforce the ban on providing armed factions with weapons in order to calm down the situation in the country and prevent militias from threatening Libya's legitimacy.
Experts called on the UN Security Council to enhance measures pertaining to an arms ban on Libya's outskirts within the framework of any new resolution to be taken in this respect to prevent the entry and exit of weapons and military equipment via Libya's coast and the smuggling of Libya's oil by armed militias.
