The UN Security Council is considering a draft resolution to approve a 21,600 strong UN peacekeeping force in Mali from July 1st, a report said.Security Council members are due to meet Tuesday to discuss the resolution, which would authorize peacekeepers to use all necessary means to protect civilians.The UN force would be able to call on the support of French troops, RT reported.The force is to be known as MINUSMA and will take over from a UN backed African force that has been deployed to take over from French forces that have already begun to withdraw.Most of the troops in the current African force known as AFISMA are likely to transfer to the UN force to become peacekeepers.
