UN envoy to Syria Staffan de Mistura's meeting with the Syrian government delegation, that was scheduled to take place early Monday, was postponed, his spokeswoman said.

The meeting will be held in Geneva at 6:00 p.m. (Cairo Local Time) today after the UN envoy meets the Syrian opposition representatives, said Jesse Shaheen.

The UN envoy was not able to hold scheduled talks with the Syrian opposition on Sunday and so the meeting with the Assad regime officials was postponed, she added.

The Syrian opposition has been insisting not to start any negotiations with the Syrian government, whether direct or indirect, until tangible progress is realized on the ground on the humanitarian file.

The opposition delegation arrived in Geneva on Saturday in a bid to reach a solution to the five-year-old crisis in Syria.
