The UN named Moustapha ben Manieh, a Moroccan, as the new envoy to Sudan in succession of Jordan's Ali Zaatari, Sudanese diplomatic sources said.
The Khartoum government was officially informed of the new appointment, the sources said as quoted by Al Rai Al Aam newspaper.
Khartoum said it has no objection to this appointment as long as it temporary.
The new envoy will arrive in Khartoum to assume work in mid March.
Full knowledge of the situation in Sudan and Arabic fluency are two conditions set by Khartoum government for any UN envoy.
