UN Assistant Secretary General Yannick Glemarec

UN Assistant Secretary General Yannick Glemarec will visit Egypt on Thursday to visit “safe cities” project in Imbaba district.

Glemarec, who also serves as Deputy Executive Director for Policy and Programme at United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women), will visit 20 other cities around the world as part of the project.

The project aims at limiting sexual harassment phenomenon and other shapes of violence exercised in public places.

The project is carried out in Ezbet el Haggana, Manshiyt Nasser and Imbaba areas in Cairo.

The project was launched in November 2010 and will run until 2018 with the participation of the Egyptian government and civil organizations along with UN organizations and the private sector.
