The UN Secretary-General has expressed concern about interferences aimed to disrupt the transition in Yemen, stressing readiness to consider further measures against those try to delay or derail the transition process. Ban Ki-moon came in a statement issued on Friday after his meeting in New York with his special envoy to Yemen Jamal Benomar, who briefed the UN Secretary-General on the last developments on the National Dialogue Conference (NDC) and challenges encountering the political process in Yemen. Moon welcomed the statement of the Security Council of 27 November 2013 on Yemen that expressed willingness to consider further measures in response to any actions by individuals or parties that are aimed at disrupting the transition process. He called on all sides to participate in the NDC in good faith and to refrain from any obstruction of the transition process, encouraging strongly all concerned to resolve their differences through genuine dialogue to enable the people of Yemen to advance the transition process. The Secretary-General also urges them to continue to work closely with his Special Adviser on Yemen.
