UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has welcomed the resumption of full-fledged negotiations between Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades and Turkish Cypriot Leader Mustafa Akinci, the United Nations spokesperson has confirmed.

In the statement, the spokesperson added that the Secretary General reiterated his commitment to supporting the leaders in their efforts to achieve "a mutually agreed comprehensive settlement" based on the Joint Declaration of February 11, 2014 and in line with the relevant Security Council resolutions.
