The UN Sustainable Development Summit 2015 kicked off here on Friday.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and more than other 150 world leaders are taking part in the three-day summit.

It will serve as the launch pad for action by the international community and by national governments to promote shared prosperity and well-being for all over the next 15 years.

Agreed by the 193 Member States of the UN, the new framework, Transforming Our World: 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, consists of a Declaration, 17 Sustainable Development Goals and 169 targets, a section on means of implementation and renewed global partnership, and a framework for review and follow-up.

Sisi will deliver Egypt's speech at the meeting where he will expound on the Egyptian viewpoint regarding the requirements for sustainable development.

He will also preside over a meeting of the committee of African presidents for coordinating stances ahead of Paris international conference on the climate change treaty that will be held later this year.

On Thursday, President Sisi arrived in New York to take part in the meetings of the 70th session of the UN General Assembly.

During his US visit, the Egyptian leader will also hold talks with a raft of world leaders on the sidelines of the visit to discuss ways of promoting cooperation and exchanging points of view.
