Gaza situation critical

The United Nations on Tuesday called for lifting a blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip to allow the entry of reconstruction materials.

Frode Mauring, the personal representative of the director general of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), at a press conference here added that the siege should be lifted so that the UN could receive building materials required for the reconstruction of the coastal enclave.

He added that the UNDP has received support from Sweden for removing one million tons of debris of houses that were destroyed during the last war in the strip.
