The United Nations Assistance Mission in Iraq (UNAMI) announced today that more than 950 Iraqis were killed and another 1900 were injured in various areas of Iraq last month. In a statement UNAMI said the killed include 853 civilians while the injured civilians amounted to 1793, noting that 127 security men were killed and 109 others were injured. Meanwhile Nickolay Mladenov, United Nations Secretary General’s Special Representative for Iraq said it has become necessary for Iraqi leaders to take bold measures to bring an end to the existing chaos and to foil terrorist attempts to destroy the fabric of the Iraqi community.
