UNRWA's Commissioner General Pierre Krenpol on Saturday praised the Egyptian role in supporting the organization's efforts to take care of Palestinian refugees.

Krenpol made the remarks during a meeting with Egypt's Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

It was very important to meet with Shoukry, Krenpol said, pointing out that UNRWA appreciates the great support by Egypt to the organization in its unprecedented financial crisis this summer.

UNRWA had previously warned that the school year may be postponed because of its $101 million financial deficit.

The UNRWA official asserted that Shoukry made contacts with a group of his counterparts to seek support for the organization.
