The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) condemned Tuesday the heinous attack in which Egypt's Prosecutor General Hesham Barakat was killed.

Eight other people were injured in the explosion which took place on Monday.

In a statement, the UNSC mourned the death of Barakat, underlining the importance of bringing to justice those behind such criminal act.

The UNSC also called for confronting such unjustified criminal acts by all possible means.
