The UN Security Council

The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting to discuss the Libyan crisis.
Addressing the gathering via video conference from Tunisia, Bernardino Leon, the UN special representative in Libya talked about the worsening situation in Libya.
Leon offered condolences for the families of 21 Egyptian Copts who were beheaded by Daesh militants in Libya.
He counted several terrorist crimes committed by Daesh and other terrorist groups in Libya.
Such barbaric crimes shed light on threats faced by Libya, its people and the whole region, Leon said.
He called for reaching an agreement with the parties to the crisis and working to bring an end to the political conflict in the North African country.
The political solution is the only way out of the Libyan crisis, he said.
