US Ambassador to Iraq Stuart E. Jones met on Saturday with the head of the local council in Anbar Sabah Karhout.

They discussed security conditions in the province where government troops backed tribal fighters are fighting militants.

The US diplomat vowed to provide security assistance to Anbar tribes in the fighting.
