The US ambassador to South Korea has survived an attack by an unknown man wielding a knife, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap.
Yonhap, monitored in Kuwait, said the ambassador, Mark Lippert, was stabbed by a 55-year-old man during a conference. Television stations showed the diplomat shortly after the attack with blood oozing from his injured face.
The attacker chanted slogans against recent regional military drills, carried out by American forces. The injured diplomat was hospitalized.
