US Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert

The United States condemned in strong terms the assault on US Ambassador to South Korea Mark Lippert who was attacked Thursday while giving a speech in Seoul.
State Department Deputy Spokesperson Marie Harf affirmed in a statement that Lippert is being treated at a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The embassy in Seoul is now coordinating with local law enforcement authorities. No other details could be shared.
A tweet from the White House National Security Council (NSC) indicated that President Barack Obama called Lippert to "tell him that he is his thoughts and wished him speedy recovery."
