The U.S. State Department confirmed Monday that NATO and the United States has deployed scud-missiles in Turkey for the past two months. “NATO and the United States deployed those assets in Turkey, [and] they are designed for the defense of Turkey,” State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters. “They are now programmed only to intercept if missiles fly into Turkish territory and we do not have any plans to change that,” Nuland added.
