A US congressional delegation led by majority leader Steve Scalise visited on Sunday the Pyramids Plateau, the media center of the Pyramids Antiquities area said.

The delegation visited the Pyramid of Khufu and the Sphinx.

They expressed happiness to visit Pyramids Plateau, the most well-known archaeological site in the world.

Terming Egypt as a strategic partner, the delegation expressed support for Egypt in the face of terrorism, saying they will convey a positive message on Egypt as a safety valve in the Middle East when they return home.

The delegation met President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on Saturday in the presence of Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry and US Ambassador here Robert Beecroft.

The meeting tackled bilateral relations and regional developments.
