US Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter on Monday thanked His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for Kuwait's ongoing support, and appreciated "strategic partnership" between the US and Kuwait.
This came in a statement by Pentagon Spokesman Rear Adm. John Kirby at the end of the US secretary's visit to Kuwait.
He said that Carter met today with His Highness the Amir and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Sheikh Khaled Al-Jarrah.
During the meetings, they discussed shared commitment to continue the two nations' close security cooperation during Carter's leadership of the Department of Defense, Kirby added.
