Beirut - KUNA
The Lebanese army has received a fresh consignment of various US weapons worth a total of USD 25 million, Lebanon's official news agency (NNA) reported on Sunday.
The delivery of weapons took place during a special ceremony held at Beirut seaport today, the NNA added.
The US arms consignment comprised 72 artillery pieces and 151 containers laden with assorted munitions and ordnance of all calibers, it said.
Fresh US arms are part of Washington's military aid program for the Lebanese army in line with agreements previously signed by both sides, it noted.
US Ambassador in Beirut David Hale said his country's response to Lebanon's arms needs was swift and continuing.
He said the US attaches much attention to the provision of weapons to the Lebanese military.
