The White House denounced Thursday threats by North Korea of a nuclear attack against the United States and said the country was able to defend itself. “The United States is fully capable of defending against any North Korean ballistic missile threat,” spokesman Jay Carney said. He stressed Pyongyang would “achieve nothing by threats and provocations” and welcomed UN Security Council action on North Korea.
