US forces entered Iraq at Baghdad request

US Ambassador here Stuart Jones underlined that his country's special forces entered the Iraqi territories at he request from Baghdad's government.

The mission of these troops is halting funding of Daesh terrorist group in Iraq and Syria, he noted.

In press statements at the US Embassy headquarters on Thursday, Jones said that even if the Iraqi cabinet demanded from Russia to carry out operations In Iraq, this would be of no importance.

He further underscored that Russia's sole role in Syria targets protecting the regime of Syrian President Bashar al Assad, adding that it did not help in ending the existence of Daesh in the Arab country.

Jones denied the intention of the US to send ground troops to Iraq to fight the extremist organization.

Daesh suffers from the air raids staged by the international coalition, he reiterated.
