US Ambassador in Sanaa Gerald Feierstein renewed on Sunday his country's support to efforts exerted by Yemeni President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi and all decisions he make to pave the way for a comprehensive national dialogue. In a press conference held in Sanaa, Feierstein said that his country and the GCC initiative's sponsors are working to fulfill their vows to the Yemeni people of succeeding the political transition process and to reach the formation of a new government in 2014. The ambassador called on the southern Yemeni opposition leadership abroad to participate in the national dialogue, noting that it was an opportunity to permanently end the southern part dispute, which is a vital part of the Gulf initiative. The US diplomat also mentioned efforts exerted to reform the security apparatus in the country, including military units which are under the European Union (EU) and the US supervision. Feierstein also voiced his country's concerns about the Houthis' implementation of Iranian policy and being the surrogates for Iran in Yemen. The US ambassador added "there are evidences that prove Iran's support for some radical members of the Southern Movement that calls for separation."
