Washington - KUNA
The U.S. welcomed here Tuesday the formal lifting of the state of emergency in Egypt, including the curfew but said there are "other steps of concern." State Department Spokeswoman Jennifer Psaki told reporters "we urge the government to respect the rights of all Egyptians," regarding reports that the Egyptian government is considering other security legislations. "This includes ensuring that Egyptians on all sides can peacefully exercise their right to freedom of assembly and expression as well as ensuring due process and that all civilians arrested are referred only to civilian courts. " "So we welcome it, but there are other steps of concern," she reiterated. She affirmed "we want Egypt to be successful. We want the people to flourish."
