US officials asserted to members of the Egyptian delegation, now in Washington, that they understand difficulties that Egypt is facing in the democratic transition, Bakinam el-Sharqawi, the Presidential Assistant for Political Affairs, said. They understand that Egypt is on the right track of building democratic institutions, she said. \"Thus, we should place what is happening now in Egypt in its proper context: problems of the birth of democracy,\" she said. She told Egyptian journalists in Washington that most of talks with American officials were on investments not about US aid to Egypt. Investments will establish a strong economic relation, el-Sharqawi said.
