The United States has affirmed that its relationship with Egypt is very important, says US White House spokesman Jay Carney. \"Our relationship with Egypt is and has been very important, and we continue to engage with the Egyptian government,\" Carney told reporters on Thursday. He noted that no date was set for holding a meeting between US president Barack Obama and Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. \"The president will be hosting his counterparts from the UAE, from Qatar, Jordan and Turkey in Washington over the next several weeks. There will be a variety of topics; Syria will certainly be one of them,\" he added.
