Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basendwa on Monday received a letter from Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Director-General José Graziano da Silva. The letter handed over by FAO representative in Yemen Fuad Aldomy dealt with current cooperation relations between Yemen and FAO, and the means to improve them in the light of the last February visit Silva paid to Yemen, including the FAO\'s support to Yemen in the food security area. Aldomy congratulated the achievements made by the government, stressing that the Organization would continue to provide all assistances to Yemen in the areas of food security, internally displaced people (IDPs) and affected families in Abyan and Hajjah governorates. Basendwa hailed the contributions of FAO to support the agricultural development in Yemen and help the government to carry out its programs to achieve the food security, in addition to the projects the Organization is implementing to improve the fishing and agricultural predictive capabilities. Several topics were touched on in the meeting, topped by the progress of the projects FAO carries out in Yemen in cooperation with ministries of agriculture and irrigation and fisheries wealth.
