Speaker of the Shura Council Abdul-Rahman Ali Othman met on Sunday with Speaker of the Arab Parliament Ahmed Al Jarwan, who is currently visiting Yemen. In the meeting, Othman expressed his appreciation for the recommendation of the committee on foreign affairs and national security within the decisions of the recent meeting of the Arab Parliament on the developments of situations in Yemen, which affirmed that the unity of Yemen is a part of the Arab national security. He wished that the Arab and Islamic countries unify their position in support of Yemen in the current phase, expressing at the same time his appreciation to the brotherly GCC countries for their initiative that help to spare Yemen the continuance of the crisis. For his part, Al Jarwan voiced the support of the Arab Parliament for the implementation of the political settlement in Yemen under the GCC-brokered initiative and its executive mechanism. He confirmed the Arab Parliament’s readiness to cooperate with Yemen so as to serve its stability and strengthen its security and unity. The members of the Arab Parliament delegation presented an explanation on the nature of their mission aiming to support the political settlement deal and the national dialogue and provide assistance and support to the Yemeni people and government.
