11 conference of PUIC starts in Baghdad under Iraq leadership

The activities of the 11th summit conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC (PUIC) member states started Sunday in Baghdad.

The inauguration was attended by Iraqi President Fuad Masum and Prime Minister Haidar al Abadi along with heads of delegations of the participating countries including Egypt, represented by House of Representatives Deputy Speaker Mahmoud el Sherif.

During the inauguration, Speaker of the Turkish Parliament Ismail Kahraman asserted the importance of facing terror via boosting mutual cooperation for the security and stability of the region.

Kahraman, whose country headed the 10th conference of the PUIC, slammed the term of "Islamic terror".

He handed over the chairmanship of the 11 PUIC session to Iraq.

In his speech, Speaker of the Iraqi Parliament Salim al Jabouri asserted that Iraqi is willing to restore its stability.

Jabouri urged facing sectarianism which leads to conflicts inside the Islamic nation and combating terror.
