An Egyptian army in Sinai

Army Spokesman Brigadier General Mohamed Samir said 13 terrorist elements were arrested in Khariza district in central Sinai.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the army spokesman said the Third Field Army troops raided a hideout for dangerous terrorist elements upon a tip-off from the military intelligence in Khariza district in central Sinai.

Two terrorists were killed and 13 others were arrested during an exchange of fire between the army troops and the terrorist elements, he added.

Army seized amounts of weapons, ammunition, bombs, explosive devices, walkie talkie radios, unlicensed motorbikes and pickup trucks during the operation, he explained.

The arrestees were referred to specialized authorities and all legal measures will be taken against them.
