The Egyptian Embassy in Tunis managed to help set free 16 Egyptian fishermen who were detained by the Tunisian authorities after entering the Tunisian territorial waters illegally, said Assistant Foreign Minister Hisham el Naquib on Tuesday.
In press statements, he added that the embassy contacted the Tunisian authorities and hired a lawyer to follow up the legal status of the detained Egyptian fishermen.
Up to 13 of them will go back home while the remaining three others will stay in Tunis for some time to follow up the status of their fishing boat, he added.
