Interior Minister Magdi Abdel Ghaffar mandated his assistant and chief of the Police Academy Amr el Asar to attend on his behalf a ceremony held on the conclusion of a training program of 216 security cadres from Africa and the Commonwealth.

The trainees had attended advanced courses in the field of securing vital institutions and VIPs and fighting terrorism and organized crime.

The Egyptian Interior Ministry is attaching special importance to international cooperation in the security domain through offering its security expertise to cadres from African and Commonwealth countries, Asar said at the ceremony.

For his part, chairman of the academy's research center Adel Mohsen said the center had trained a large number of security cadres from 49 African and 17 Commonwealth countries.

They attended 588 courses at the academy's African Center for Crime Prevention and the Egypt Commonwealth Center for Security Studies and Training, he said.

Secretary General of the Egyptian Partnership Agency for Development Hazem Fahmy, who attended the event, hailed the performance and expertise of the Egyptian police in facing extraordinary international challenges and circumstances related to terrorism.

Fahmy underlined the need to outline a comprehensive strategy for cooperation that puts into account handling the roots of the cause under a legal framework to fight terrorism.
