Military Spokesman Brigadier General Mohammad Samir said at least 70 terrorists carried out concurrent attacks that targeted five security checkpoints in North Sinai on Wednesday.

Army troops immediately repelled the attacks, leaving 22 terrorists killed and destroying three Landcruiser vehicles carrying anti-aircraft rockets.

Ten army personnel were killed and injured so far, he added.

Army troops are still hunting down the terrorist elements and combing surrounding areas.

Clashes are said to be going on till now.
