Twenty five fire engines were deployed on Saturday to control a huge blaze that erupted at a vinegar factory on Cairo-Alexandria highway near Tanta.

Civil defense teams are struggling to contain the flames away from other nearby factories, Gharbiya security chief Maj. General Abdel Hamid al Hasa said.

Also, security forces changed traffic movement to avoid congestion, al Hasa added.

At least 24 people were injured in the fire, the security chief said.
