A commission tasked with reviewing applications for pardoning prisoners has approved the release of 288 people, said an aide to the interior minister.
Maj. Gen. Mohammed Rateb told MENA that the pardoned prisoners had served at least half of their sentences and had behaved well during their prison term, or had not convicted of serious offenses.
