As many as 297 Egyptians returned from Libya via Salloum crossing over the past 24 hours, said Marsa Matrouh Security Director General Anani Houmda.
In statements on Wednesday, Hamouda said as many as 137 of the returnees had traveled illegally to Libya.
The security official ordered the arrival measures of the returnees to be swiftly finalized.
Libya has been witnessing a rising insurgency by different rebel groups and militias, increasing the use of weapons since the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi’s regime in 2011.
The attacks included killing and injures of Egyptians working there across different parts of the country.
