A booby-trapped car went off in al Zaafaraniya area in southern Baghdad Tuesday, killing three Iraqi civilians and wounding nine more.

A security source said the car exploded in al Shomou village, causing damage to a number of cars and nearby houses.

A security force rushed to the site of the blast and cordoned it off.

Ambulances moved the injured to hospital.

A suicide bomber was driving the booby-trapped car that targeted police and military troops deployed in al Taramiya area.
