Interior Ministry said on Saturday that about 27 members of the terrorist Muslim Brotherhood were detained over forming three secret cells that took part in 24 terror attacks on police and public facilities in Gharbiya.
In a statement, the ministry said the security forces managed to identify the three small groups and foiled their plot to attack vital places.
The security forces seized weapons and explosive devices during the campaign the launched in the cities of Zefta, Santa and Samanoud.
The detainees included a regional leader, member of administrative office along others according to the MB's internal categorization of its members, the ministry said in the statement.
The police found with them 11 Kalashnikov pieces, an Egyptian made 9-mm pistol, 260 7.62x39mm bullets, 9mm bullets and ten explosive devices of different sizes along other parts used in making bombs, the statement added.
They took part in two attacks on police facilities, 6 electricity pylons and other vital places, according to the statement.
Also, six warehouses and labs used in making bombs were found during the campaign, the statement added.
