Thirty members of the blacklisted Muslim Brotherhood (MB) group were arrested Friday in Alexandria for staging protests.
They chanted slogans against the Armed Forces and police and blocked several roads here, Alexandria Security Chief Amin Ezz El Din said.
He added that the MB members opened fire on residents, who tried to stop them.
The clashes left a girl dead and another child wounded.
The MB members were arrested with a firearm and bullets in their possession.
