A police captain and three police members, two sergeants and a non-commissioned officer, were injured when unknown gunmen fired at them on Beni Suef-Fayyoum road on Monday, a source at the Interior Ministry's Media Center said.

Gunmen, hiding in nearby farmlands, attacked police forces stationed at the road, he said.

The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment, he said, adding that the security bodies are intensifying efforts to hunt the criminals down.
